Alabama Historical Maps

Resources to find locations of your Alabama ancestors and understand where and how they lived.

Marriage Records | Divorce Records | Birth Records | Death Records | Archives.com

Many of the first counties changed borders, names, or were split up altogether during the history of Alabama. Seeing where our ancestors lived in these changing counties will often lead to more records for genealogy research.

These maps were found at the University of Alabama. They may be viewed as a JPEG or with an ExpressView Browser Plug-in (MrSID) for Windows available for download here. (Many government sites and libraries online use this viewer so it's handy to have.)
