Census Records Search

Census records can be the greatest asset to following an ancestor around the county, keeping track of their children and even occupations at the time the census was taken. Also included in later census records is place of birth of parents, how many times married, and other useful information. I have searched newspaper files for the areas my ancestors turned up in census records and have learned so much more about them that I can now pass on to my family. I recently came across the fact that my Great-Grandfather served as a sheriff for a time in a small town that I visited often while growing up. I also found an article about him being gored by a bull while helping on a neighbors ranch. The article went on to tell that he was recovering, being "ornerier than the bull that stuck him". What a bit of trivia to put in my genealogy pages!
